I needed a good portable netbook for school (taking classes at night while working full time) and travel. I’ve had the Asus-1005HA with Windows 7 Starter for a week now and it’s exactly what I needed:

- Small and lightweight, but with a bright screen and comfortable keyboard. Even the touchpad is comfortable. Seriously, the ergonomics rock for a computer of this size.
- Great battery life – just play with the default settings to get the battery life – performance trade off where you want it. I leave my charger at home and use the computer during work breaks, at the library, and at school and then just plug it in at night to recharge. I could honestly go 2-3 days (maybe more…) of on and off use like this without plugging it in at night.
- Respectable processing power. If all you need are basic office functions, email, internet, and basic multimedia, then this netbook will do everything you need it to do. If you’re looking for heavy multimedia, gaming, or using such programs as Adobe Creative Suite, then look somewhere else.
- Minimal bloatware to get rid of after setup.

I am deeply well impressed with this machine. It is small and light, but not too small, and yet light enough for you to carry anywhere at any time. The screen is just the right size and I got used to the keyboard size after just a couple of strokes. It truly delivers 10.5 hours of battery! I didn’t believe it. I thought they said 10.5 hours to deliver about 8 hours nominal, but no, you charge it at home and you can spend the entire day working with it and the battery will last. Windows starter loaded in it is just enough, I have had if for 2 weeks now and still have not seen a missing feature I couldn’t live without. I used to have a Sony Vaio 11.5″ screen notebook, which was light and fast, but this ASUS is just as fast, lighter and packed with resources. My Vaio has become a desk ornament! All in all, a 5 star product.
